Well folks we’ve reached the end of the road for Season 1. So to make this more interesting this post is also open to discussion on the printed materials, i.e. manga, magazine, SID, etc., the OVA and PV. We will hit the movie at the finale of Season 2.

  • I LOVE the piano and strings version of 'Bokura wa Ima no Naka de” that is used to open the episode. It’s a different spin on a familiar song but also recognizable. It fits the mood of the scene well as we see Honoka, Umi and the rest splitting off. I especially like the editing between Umi’s arrow shots and Honoka having fun with the support girls. I just wish they had used that part for the opening credits and didn’t even bother with the normal version of the OP. Once again it’s mood whiplash and takes you out of the moment.

  • Even with μ’s seemingly disbanded Nico still wants to keep pushing forward with Rin and Hanayo. I would have loved to see what kind of trio they would have made.

  • DDR causes Honk to have PTSD

  • I’ve read that guitarists have issues with games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero, which you would think wouldn’t be the case since if you can play the real thing then the video game would be easier. I wonder if it’s the same thing for school idols and DDR. Also I know one of the support girls says that if Honk hadn’t had the Nam’ flashbacks at the start of the song she would have had a better score but she got an AAA, not sure you can do much better.

  • Nico is still pissed at Honks, can’t say I blame her.

  • Eli on the other hand is jealous of Honks ability to move forward into the future and thanks for her saving her back then. She also confesses that she hides her weakness of fear but Nozomi has seen this embarrassing side of her.

  • Kotori at the airport ready to leave to foreign place.

  • I like the Umi and Honk scene at the auditorium. Honk confesses that she basically fucked up by not being observant of others feelings. Umi on the other hand admits that Honk has always caused her and Kotori trouble, but she also brought them to a place where they didn’t have the courage to go. It’s a nice moment of two friends reconciling. Umi tells Honk she has to go get their birb back

  • Now I want to know is how things would have gone if birb had said no. The school is saved already so no issue there. Honoka probably slips into a further depression and for sure never goes back to being a school idol. Muse as we know it is done most likely. So A-Rise probably wins two LL in a row. Do they go to America? Perhaps but they make it clear in the movie they want to go pro. Spreading the word of what school idols can do on their own doesn’t sound like something they would spearhead. On the other hand muse has a way of inspiring others. I think without them we get no NYC show, no Sunny Day Song, and no dome. So who knows what happens with Chika then. It’s all speculation, I just find it interesting how much could change based on one choice.

  • Of course birb decides to come back and no one seems to care since we never hear about this ever again. Hell her mom is there watching the show, and for some reason knows Maki’s mom.

  • I do fine it impressive that despite all the infighting they managed to put together a well choreography and lit show.

  • Over all it’s a good solid finale that sets up the next season well i.e. A-Rise noticing them, and their new ranking.

Manga

The manga is interesting. It was written by Kimino Sakurako, the writer for pretty much all of Love Live outside of the anime. She has worked on the manga’s, magazine profiles and other publications. There are several big differences between the anime and manga

  • The backstory behind the school closing is fleshed out more. We learn more about the area where the girls live and where the school is located

  • UTX is expanded on and becomes more of a villain. There is a lot of tension between the UTX girls and the Otonokizaka girls. Otonokizaka is seen as old and a relic, being one of the oldest pre-WW2 buildings in that part of Tokyo, where as UTX is the new high tech school.

  • Nico and Maki are using the school idol club to get better so they can become idols at UTX and get scholarships.

  • Eli is more open and flirty. HonoEli is strong.

  • Rin and Hanayo’s relationship is different. Rin is more dominating, in some cases dragging Hanayo along while she is yelling. I’m not a fan of it, I love my RinPana as they are.

  • We get more insight into Maki’s character. She seems to not like her folks and is not happy that her life has been planned out for her. A lot of the other students don’t seem to like her, calling her the princess.

Love live school idol collection

So that’s a few I noticed. For now only the first two volumes are available in English via scanlation. It has never been licensed for a US release. School Idol Diaries These are side stories from the characters POV. Several are available on the wikia but not all. Dynasty Scans has several chapters of a manga adaptation of the SID but as with the wikia not all are there to read. The wikia has more details on the various publications.

Idol

PV and OVA.

There are 5 PV and one OVA. It’s really more like 5.5 PV since the last part of the OVA is pretty much just a PV for “Music S.T.A.R.T”. The five PV are, in order of release.

  • Bokura no LIVE Kimi to no LIFE

  • Snow Halation

  • Natsuiro Egao de 1,2,Jump!

  • Mogyutto 'love' de Sekkin Chuu!

  • Wonderful Rush

The PV are available on a link on the sub’s sidebar. They are not subbed. You can also click here to see a video comparing the PV of Snow Halation next to the anime. There is also one for Bokura no Live Kimi to no Life. Their isn’t really any plot in the PV since they are more or less elaborate ads for the singles. Mujhe naulakha manga de 3gp video download. They are an interesting artifact in the history of Love Live and the SIP.

One thing you notice is the animation. The characters went through a lot of changes between 2010 and 2013. They didn’t have the flushing on the cheeks that you see in a lot of scenes on the anime. Umi in particular feels a lot different than her anime counterpart. They also didn’t animate them moving too much. In Snow Halation it feels as if each girl is in a box and is limited to the space she has to use her hands and arms. The anime wasn’t that much different, it just seemed like they had more freedom of movement to use their arms in their close-ups. Like in the anime, Honoka is the master of the open hand gesture that invites the viewer to take her hand as the camera pulls away.

Mogyutto 'love' de Sekkin Chuu! Is a Valentine’s Day themed PV. If you’re wondering why they are giving chocolates that is a tradition in Japan. A lot of the time it’s not done for romance but as a way of giving thanks to a male friend boss or colleague. Men return the favor one month later on March 14th on White Day. There are a lot of cutaways to the girls giving chocolate to the camera, or more accurately the viewer of the PV. There is also a NicoMaki chocolate giving scene which is cute.

Natsuiro Egao 1,2.Jump! Is really just a fun video for a song about having fun in the summertime. There are several scenes from the PV that were used in the episode of the anime where they go to the beach, such as Nico stealing the watermelon.

Love Live School Idol Movie

The OVA is weird. The story seems to be about dreams. Maki tells Hanayo about a strange dream she had where she was being chased down a hallway in some kind of castle only to get caught in a cage. She then asks if this is a dream and then sees a young girl who she seems to recognize. The sky goes cloudy and she dies….ok that last part isn’t true. She just doesn’t come to school the next day and the others decide to go visit her. Well then they realize they might be in a dream and the girl appears. It’s obviously loli-Maki and she tells them all that she has been watching them, interesting that she says she has been watching all nine of them. So maybe it’s not Maki. But then she gets caught in a beam of light like she’s being beamed back to the Enterprise and becomes the Maki we all know and love. No one can explain it. Then they start dancing to Music S.T.A.R.T. Sorry I can’t explain more than that but I think it was meant to be weird and mysterious. The PV and OVA are worth checking out since a lot of the idolized outfits for the R cards in School Idol Festival come from these PV. Well folks I’ve enjoyed this. I hope you all did as well. Thank you for the upvotes and for those who commented. I saw we had some great discussions going on. Let’s keep it going Monday when we begin Season 2.
